La rencontre (The Meeting) : Lucie Lachapelle, 1994, 56 min 46 s
La rencontre is a documentary about couple relationship between Whites and Natives. All along a great trip from the north to the south of Quebec, we enter an universe where women and men are linked to native american’s and inuit’s ones. Their emotions, discoveries, and questionings are shared thanks to the sensitivity of their testimonies; meanwhile the lucidity towards their relationship between the others and the territory demonstrate a possible meeting.
Ilot (Islet) : Nicolas Brault, 2003, 7 min 5 s
Animated short- film illustrating a world where whales fall from th sky, where fishes turn into balloons; a monochrome universe, dealing directly with reality, brightened up by a fanciful storyteller. Between magical realism and figurative abstraction, this little tale for human beings calls for vigilance in order to clearly evoke the fragmentation of the Artic, giving itself to the ocean, a little more each year. The filmmaker Nicolas Brault designed with a graphic tablet this ode to the Great North and to its inhabitants while he was on board of the Sedna IV.
