Bangalore School of Music in Partnership with Alliance Francaise de Bangalore present Reputed  Violin Piano Duo–Malaysia : Pianist TheviThanigasalam& Violinist Winnie Cheah on Wednesday 28th Jan, 2015 at Alliance Francaise–7:00 pm

Winnie Cheah : is one of the best known classical musicians and educators in the country. From a very young age and under her father’s guidance, Winnie learned the violin. Her father had organised for world class virtuosos such as Alfredo Campoli, Sylvia Rosenberg &Beryl Kimber to visit Penang&train Winnie, who obtained her Diploma in Performance from the ABRSM UK&started teaching at 16 years of age.She subsequently studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music where she studied under John Gould. Also has LTCL (Performance).Winnie returned to Malaysia to start her family, where she settled in Kuala Lumpur. She performed with chamber music with Chamber Music Players, The Baroque Choristers and Players, and as the lead violinist for the Suria String Quartet. She is also a founding member of the Penang Trio with her sister Beatrice Lim &Puan Sri Elinah Ahmad.In addition to her professional work, she has actively raised funds for over 100 charities.

Thevi Thanigasalam  :Plays the piano, dances, acts and sings.Passed pianoforte Grade 8 of the Royal Academy of Music exam with Distinction at the age of 14 and was recommended scholarship to Royal College of MusicLondon and another scholarship to International Academy of Music Kuala Lumpur. Has ATCL (Performance). First piano recital at the age of 5, she had been the school pianist from Std 1 to Form 5 in MGSKL. She has played for charities, weddings, birthday parties, social gatherings and ballets.She has acted in the Selangor Philharmonic production of Airs and Graces and Cinderella. Directed plays in school, won numerous singing competitions, and studied Classical Ballet till Grade 8, learnt Modern Ballet and tap dancing.
