Alliance Française de Bangalore and its cultural partner, Ashish Khokar, present over 100 dancers on the occasion of World Dance Day on April 29th, as per U.N. Convention, honoring the memory of pioneering French ballet artiste Jean Georges NOVERRE.
This 12 hour nonstop dance event will feature three generations of dancers – some stars, some students, some divas, some gurus… The event begins with a surprise inaugural performance! The President of the Alliance Française, Shri Chiranjiv Singh will then inaugurate the first-ever public showing of ‘MOHAN KHOKAR DANCE COLLECTION’.
A seminar called DANCE MATTERS brings together gurus and shishyas, media and makers of films to discuss many issues: patronage, position in society and power games!
Star dancer-teacher of Bangalore, Padmini Ravi, founder of city’s best festival the Bengaluru Habba returns to stage after a hiatus lasting a decade. She has chosen this platform as it includes all and reaches many. Seniors Vasundhara Doraswamy and Vani Ganapathy will constitute the grand finale.
All through the day, established, upcoming, stars and divas of dance take center stage to pay tributes to various dance forms: classical, folk, contemporary…
Books on dance, dvds, posters and other memorabilia will also be on display.
Never before has the city seen such participation and involvement. This event has been made possible thanks also to Bangalore School of Music, another cultural partner.
