Gitanjali Sukumar is chirpy and exuberant, radiating energy all around.  This daughter of a scientist says she was more inclined towards art and swapped the pen for paint brushes. Working with water colours, acrylics and oils, her works mainly display natural themes portraying an abstract-realism about them. She also works with a lot of mixed-media and enjoys creating jewellery and sculptures.  Her work is influenced by the style and colours of artists such as Wassily Kandinsky, Yayoi Kusama, and Jackson Pollock.

Graduating in Fine Arts from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia in 2009, she majored in Painting and Drawing. Having successfully exhibited solo as well as being a part of many group shows between Sydney and Bangalore, her passion for art is mirrored in the playful, adventurous and positive energy reflected in her rich colours and the variety of her oeuvre and aesthetics. As Gitanjali says, “Language is the basis of communication. Art is my language.”
