THEATRE: Manto

5.00 & 7.30 pm | 17th of December | Alliance Française auditorium

An evening that will transport you to a bygone era. An era that we have much to learn from. In this series, we attempt to recreate the magic of an artist who has stood the test of time. This month we celebrate the writings of Saadat Hasan Manto.
Saarthak Productions presents A Tribute to Saadat Hasan Manto, one of the greatest writers of Indian subcontinent, an Indian soul trapped in Pakistan. Saadat Hasan Manto, fondly referred to as ‘Manto’, wrote more than 270 short stories, few movie scripts and plays before dying at an early age of forty two in Lahore, Pakistan. A short span of his writing carrier can be easily divided into two phases, the first one consisting of a wide range of experiences and the second, being a result of the impact of partition and his experiences thereof. The pure simplicity of language and honest depiction of the incidents and experiences, makes him an exceptional Indian writer in Hidustani language. We invite you to come and revisit ‘Manto’ in all his splendour on 17 th December.
