Honey Hunter cover 72dpi (2)The Honey Hunter

Text by KARTHIKA NAIR, Illustrations by JOËLLE JOLIVET

A unique collaboration between one of India’s finest poets and one of France’s most beloved illustrators: an unforgettable journey to the heart of the Sundarbans.  Adapted from a section of Akram Khan’s award-winning dance-drama DESH, the story — part fable, part adventure — follows the tribulations of a young boy, Shonu, whose parents are honey-gatherers. Driven to distraction by hunger and the thought of honey, Shonu slips away into the mangrove forest one day, in search of honey. What he encounters there is much more than he bargained for! A terrifying demon-tiger, and the presiding goddess of the forests, none other than Bonbibi herself.  A cautionary tale on the importance of ecological balance, and a rich visual and poetic journey into the heart of the subcontinent.
