Saturday

The lost glory of the Mysore School of Bharatanatyam, an important rajnartaki form, that partook of devadasi traditions too, is being plat formed in the first of 2011 Dance DISCourse, so successful with Bangalore audiences in 2010.

The 6 sessions in 2010 (on Male Soloist; Choreography; Orissi; Uday Shankar and Banaglore Male Dancers concluding with 2 awards in memory of iconic Bangalorean Ram Gopal which went to Satyanarayam Raju and Mohan Khokar Award which went to P.Praveen Kumar) were memorable.

The Mysore School had a musical quality different from other Bharantanatyam styles, although all are from the same ocean of dance.

Senior most living guru now, Vidwan C.Radhakrishna will be present from Mysore and his ace disciple Smt. Padmini Shreedhar will conduct the proceedings with other main students like Pulakeshi Kasturi, Veena Sridhar and senior proponents.  Guru Lalitha Srinivasan and scholar Dr.

Choodamani Nandgopal, who has made a film on the subject will also be present.

Editor-publisher of attendance and reputed dance scholar, creator and conductor of the DISCourse series, Ashish Mohan Khokar will be the sutradhar, anchoring the evening, which will conclude with panel discussion and Q & A from the audiences.

As always, members of Alliance Française and Dance History Society (forms onwww.attendance-india.com) are welcome. Event open to public.
