About the artist:
Justin McCarthy studied piano as a child with Ruth Kuipers in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Later, he was a student of Louis Nagel at the University of Michigan School of Music and Mack McCray at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. But the teachers with the most far-reaching influence on his playing have been Heather Halsted and Ruth Liebich.

Justin came to India in 1979 and has resided here ever since, pursuing a double career in piano and Bharatanatyam, teaching and performing actively in both disciplines for the past few decades.  In addition, he started performing on the harpsichord a few years ago.

Justin has appeared as a pianist in numerous solo and duo performances both in India as well as Europe. Amongst others, he has worked with the French violinist Philippe Honore, the Indian soprano Situ Singh-Buehler, the German violinist Kerstin Linder-Dewan, the French cellist Dominique de Williencourt and the French soprano Dominique Moaty. He has also accompanied the Delhi Chamber Choir, the Capital City Minstrels and the Neemrana Opera Choir. He has a repertoire ranging from German and French Baroque and the Viennese School to 20th century composers like Ravel and Berio. His special interest in Baroque music led him to do a series of Bach recitals wherein, amongst other works, he performed the entire Well-Tempered Clavier.

Justin will be performing rare works by Rameau, Forqueray, Royer, Couperin and others.
