The Alliance Française de Bangalore and Counter Culture present
Confronting crystal violence of the guitars, overwhelming presence of the drums and muttered despair of the singing part, A BACKWARD GLANCE invites us to a surrealist and visual universe. They use a large panel of instruments, both acoustic and digital: guitars, cello, drums, charango (stringed instrument from South America), wind instruments… The sound created is inherited from digital rock and neofolk.
The core element of the live performance is a unique video work illustrating A BACKWARD GLANCE’s universe. A BACKWARD GLANCE found their way to a significant fame first through the Internet media, their album having been available for free download. Between 2009 and 2011, they played more than 200 concerts through the entire world. Now their album is just about to be published and 2011 will be the year for an international roadshow.
On the occasion of the tour, the band members could also give a master class which would focus on the composing and rearranging process (harmony, musical structures, etc) in musiques actuelles like pop, rock and digital music. Technical fields could thus be explored: computer-generated music, production and mixing. This masterclass would be given by the band’s two founder members, Emmanuel Jessua (Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris) and Thibault Lamy (musician and sound mixer) and orchestrated by the rest of the band.
