The stage is once again set for the Attakkalari India Biennial
The ten day festival aims to engage audiences with research, thought and practice and will present the city of Bangalore as a vibrant dance platform.
This year, the biennial adopts the theme of “Traditional Physical Wisdom, Innovation and Technology”.
The festival will feature internationally acclaimed performances at Ranga Shankara, Chowdiah Memorial Hall, Alliance Française and the National Gallery of Modern Art in Bangalore. Countries being represented at this edition of Attakkalari India Biennial include France, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, UK, Germany, Australia, South Africa, Israel, Japan, Italy, South Korea and USA. Over 120 performers and artistes will showcase their creativity over the ten day celebration, including a selection of young choreographers from Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Iran, Singapore, Hong Kong and India.
In addition, the Biennial will host master classes for dancers by visiting artists; a week-long choreography laboratory for young choreographers; Dance on Camera – a section on films dedicated to dance, a 3-day seminar on ‘Body, Performance and Articulation’ and installations. An intensive programme for South Asian journalists on writing on dance will also be conducted during the festival.
