The Bangalore School of Music presents “An Evening of Piano Music”: A Journey through the Classics, the Eclectic and the Unknown by American Pianist John kamfonas. Mr. Kamfonas has performed for Masterclasses with Robert Levin, Jeremy Denk, Nelita True, and Jura Margulis and was recently awarded first prize at the Art of Piano Summer Festival Piano Competition held in Cincinnati, Ohio for his performance of works by Franz Liszt. In addition to his performing activities, John is an active music educator, currently serving as a member of the piano faculty at Youniversity of Music and the Arts in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. John has also developed a unique workshop on improvising for classical musicians that he most recently conducted with students at University of Minnesota Morris. Mr. Kamfonas holds a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied under Phillip Kawin as the recipient of the Artur Balsam Foundation Endowed Scholarship.  Prior to his graduate studies, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Economics from Columbia University in New York.
