French is in the air!

The Alliance Française de Bangalore was established in 1970 as part of the world’s most renowned network of French Language centres.

It offers French language courses to over 2500 students each year, prepares for internationally recognised diplomas awarded by the French Ministry of National Education, designs special training programs for companies, conducts short-term survival French classes for professionals, students and individuals leaving for France or Francophone countries…

Set in a student-friendly, green environment, students have the privilege of being taught by experienced specialized teachers. The method of teaching is modern and interactive. The convivial atmosphere and the culture-infused approach makes learning a delightful experience.

The Director, appointed by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Course Director are French professionals.

The Board (“Executive Committee”) is made up of 8 eminent local personalities from the language, cultural, academic and corporate worlds, putting their skills and experience at the service of the institution.

The Alliance Française organises regular cultural events all-year round – the exceptional premises includes a 250-seater auditorium, a cinema room, an art gallery, a media centre, a cafeteria and outdoor spaces.

A worldwide network!

It all started with a simple idea: to bring people together through a common language — French — while celebrating diverse cultures from France, French-speaking countries and territories, host countries, and everything in between.

Founded in 1883 by prominent individuals from various fields — including diplomats, engineers, scientists, and writers such as Jules Verne and Louis Pasteur — the Alliance Française network has grown into the world’s leading cultural NGO. It now includes over 850 centres in 132 countries, including 15 in India, and welcomes nearly half a million students each year.

Headquartered in Paris, the Fondation Alliance Française oversees this international network, working in partnership with the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs.

Each Alliance Française operates as an independent, non-profit association, closely connected to the local culture and the social, and professional landscape.
