The Alliance Française de Bangalore has travelled a long way since 50 years. The place brings together slices of lives of individuals scattered across oceans and continents, binding them together while creating history. It bears testimony to careful preparation, sheer hard work and huge amounts of positive thinking.
The story would have read some what differently if it had not been for the contributions, help and support from various organizations and individuals – right from the local authorities and committee members like Mr. Rebello to Mr. Gudarmal to employees like Mr. Pusushotham and Mr. Joseph Raj who continue to serve this institution.
An epitome of linguistic and cultural diversity, l\'AFB began in two modest class rooms in Central College! It was only after moving into a rented building on Infantry Road that the institution set up house in the present building - designed by the renowned Martin York, the AFB is one of the architectural land marks and masterpieces of Bangalore that never fails inspire and to evoke awe. From an inconspicuous 150 students a year, it now sees more than 3000 learners cross its portals. Along with young students from schools and colleges who continue to learn French with us, the Alliance is taking in more and more of professionals. ‘The language of Molière’ is also very fast becoming the ‘language of businesses’. From a faculty strength of  5, it has grown to an impressive strength of 35 passionate trainers.
The Indo-French Cultural Centre has seen 11 Directors, each one of them contributing to its growth, both in the pedagogical as well as the cultural fields.
